Audio apps and chat rooms are all the rage right now, and they are expected to grow!!
But...there are security concerns surrounding their use and when it's appropriate to record what's being said. Consider using a release to obtain participants' permission prior to inviting them to your chat room, virtual audio party, or whatever the audio event might be.
Also, suppose you have an oral agreement, and the other party breaches the agreement. Since you don't have a written agreement, it becomes a "your-word against the other person's word" kind of case, making it harder for you to win the case. But it doesn't have to be this way. While a written agreement won't make you lawsuit-proof, it has the potential to help reduce your liability.
