Shelia Huggins Appears in New York Times Article: The Federal Indictment Against Former President Donald Trump

On June 14, 2023, she appeared in a New York Times article that discussed the indictment against former President Donald Trump and his initial appearance that occurred that day in Florida.

The indictment included 38 counts, 37 of which were against Mr. Trump and his co-defendant Waltine Nauta. The article shared the fact that I had livestreamed a reading of the information presented in the indictment, which was over 20 pages. The complete indictment is over 40 pages.

Shelia Huggins Appears on Revolt TV Episode to Discuss Tyre Nichols Case

On May 5, 2023, Shelia Huggins appeared on a episode of Revolt Black News Weekly, one of several media platforms under the Revolt media umbrella owned by Sean Combs. Sean Combs got his start in the music industry with Bad Boy Records and now has ownership or partnership interests in fashion, media, spirits, and more.

In this episode of Revolt Black News Weekly, she discussed several aspects of the Tyre Nichols case. Tyre Nichols was the father and FedEx worker who died after being stopped by members of the Memphis Police Department. Five officers who were involved in the altercation with Mr. Nichols were terminated by the Memphis Police Department. They have also been charged with second degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and other charges.

How to Submit a Claim in the $725 Million Facebook Privacy Class Action Lawsuit

According to the website www.facebookuserprivacysettlement.com, “a settlement has been reached between Defendant Facebook, Inc., now known as Meta Platforms, Inc., (“Meta” or “Defendant”) and Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.”

Here are the criteria you must meet in order to be a class member:

  • You were a Facebook user in the US between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022.

  • You can not be a class member if you fall into one of these classes: (i) all persons who are directors, officers, legal representatives, alleged co-conspirators, and agents of Defendant or its wholly or partly owned subsidiaries or affiliated companies or employees of Defendant or its subsidiaries and affiliated companies; (ii) counsel for any plaintiff whose case was consolidated into this MDL and their employees, including but not limited to Class Counsel for Plaintiffs and their employees; (iii) the Special Master, Discovery Mediators, and Settlement Mediator who participated in this case and their staff; and the Judges and Court staff, as well as any appellate court to which this matter is ever assigned; and (iv) eligible persons who elect to opt out of the Settlement Class.
     

You claim may be submitted on the website, and the deadline to submit your claim is August 25, 2023.

Shelia A. Huggins Speaks at NCCU Law School Entertainment & Sports Symposium

 

On March 31, 2023, Shelia A. Huggins spoke at the 2023 Sports and Entertainment Law Society Symposium at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.

Shelia A. Huggins Speaks at Women on the Rise

On March 3, 2023, Shelia A. Huggins was a speaker at the Women on the Rise leadership conference held at the Strickland Conference Center on the campus of Forsyth Community College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The event included a keynote address; workshops on salary negotiations; using social media professionally; breaking the habits of burnout; redefining community building through womanhood, power, and leadership; the civic circle: a new model for community engagement; relational leadership: empowering change for good; and more.

Shelia Huggins’ topic was “Social Media: The Professional Advantage.” She discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Etsy, and more. The discussions also included a look at the legal liability related to using different social media platforms. In addition to social media, participants also had an opportunity to discuss branding on social media and building a professional image that crosses over from social media and onto their personal and business websites and ecommerce sites.
